Job No: KAP194
Location: Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide or Melbourne

About Us

Kaplan Australia is one of the world's leading providers of lifelong education, helping over one million students around the globe achieve their educational and career goals each year. While we provide a broad array of educational offerings through our programs, our commitment to providing unrivalled quality and great learning outcomes is consistent in each of our businesses.

About the Role

Kaplan Business School is a private higher education provider and an integral function of the global Kaplan network that educates more than 1 million students each year.

In Australia, KBS is a growing school, resolutely committed to student success and academic integrity.  In pursuit of these objectives, an open, flexible and supportive leadership team cultivates a culture that embraces innovative methods of teaching and learning across four campuses in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Currently, we are seeking an Academic Head in the Management, HR & Law discipline, specifically focused on the management-related subjects such as organisational behaviour, business ethics, human resources, change management, and of course a number of subjects that pertain directly to general management and people leadership.

We are therefore looking for candidates with qualifications and experience related to one or more of the aforementioned areas.  In terms of qualifications, we prefer candidates to possess either a PhD or a DBA (or at least be nearing its completion).  In terms of experience, it is important the appointee has led people in the private sector so that they understand how theoretical curriculum needs to be designed to suit the expectations of employers and industry.

The Academic Head position consists of general day-to-day lecturer management and administrative responsibilities as well as content development and delivery, complaints handling, project work, curriculum reviews, coaching responsibilities, and subject coordination.  It is a stimulating role that demands not just academic expertise but also the interpersonal ability to engage a diverse and valued team in person and especially remotely.

This responsibility is best suited to someone with an extraordinary eye for detail, strong time management skills, a wide industry network, and a talent for behind-the-scenes administrative work that makes powerful teaching possible.  Experience in higher education and subject coordination is essential, as is the teaching of international students.

This position reports to the Academic Director of the discipline with the assistance of one other Academic Head, and can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.

It is a requirement of all Kaplan employees to complete a National Police Check and hold a valid Working with Children Check in your relevant state. All costs will be covered by the employer.

Our passion is helping students reach their goals through quality education. Joining our team, you’ll thrive in a rewarding work environment that is customer-focused, dynamic and innovative in spirit. If you share the same passion, please forward your cover letter and resume.
