Course Director, MBA

Job No: KAP238
Location: Australia

Kaplan Business School is an independent higher education provider and an integral function of the global Kaplan network that educates more than 1 million students each year.

In Australia, KBS is a growing school, committed to cultivating a supportive and nurturing learning environment.  In pursuit of these objectives, an open and flexible leadership team has developed a culture that embraces innovative methods of teaching and learning across campuses in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as online.

We are now recruiting for a Course Director for our flagship MBA program – a newly created position.  This is a diverse and popular course with seven specialisations in Entrepreneurship, International Leadership, Health Services Management, Digital Management, Project Management, Tourism & Hospitality Leadership, and Women in Leadership.

We are therefore seeking a candidate with qualifications and experience related to one or more of the aforementioned areas.  In relation to qualifications, it is essential the successful candidate possesses either a PhD or a DBA.  In relation to experience, it is important the appointee has worked extensively in the private sector so they understand how theoretical curriculum needs to be designed to suit the expectations of employers and industry.

More specifically, the Course Director, MBA is responsible for a combination of activities associated with leadership, influence, coordination and administration.  As examples:

  • The leadership tasks include the guidance and oversight of curriculum across varying disciplines that often operate differently but nonetheless require some consistency.
  • The influence tasks include the need to persuade many stakeholders, especially since this position does not have direct reports to whom instructions can be issued.
  • The coordination tasks involve managing the MBA Industry Guest initiative that requires the sourcing of practitioners as guests for every subject at every campus each trimester.
  • The administration tasks are most closely reflected in the processing of applications for Recognition of Prior Learning, which demand a same-day turnaround time.

Of course, there’s much more to this role, such as accreditation submissions, curriculum development, complaints handling, project work, course reviews, coaching, teaching and subject coordination.  It is a responsibility best suited to someone with extraordinary eye for detail, strong time management skills, a wide industry network, and a talent for behind-the-scenes administrative work that makes powerful teaching possible.  Supervisory experience in MBA programs is essential, as is a profound understanding of international education.

This position reports to the Academic Dean and can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.

It is a requirement of all Kaplan employees to complete a National Police Check and hold a valid Working with Children Check in your relevant state. All costs will be covered by the employer.

Our passion is helping students reach their goals through quality education. Joining our team, you will thrive in a rewarding work environment that is customer-focused, dynamic and innovative in spirit.

If you share the same passion, please forward your cover letter and résumé.

Applications close on the 25th June 2019.
