Information Technology for Academic Studies

The Massey University College is seeking an Information Technology for Academic Studies teacher in its Foundation programme. 

The Foundation programme at Massey University College is designed for international students who don’t quite meet the academic requirements for university entrance. The programme helps students to transition straight into the first year of a selection of undergraduate degrees at Massey University by increasing their English and academic skills, knowledge and capabilities. During the course students will gain various general academic skills, such as effective verbal and written communication, as well as subject specific knowledge relating to their chosen degree pathway.

The vacancy is for a teacher with experience teaching online and with use of learning management systems such as Moodle. Teaching hours are between 2pm and 8pm Monday to Friday. The program is delivered in 3 trimesters over the calendar year.

The position is initially on a part-time sessional basis, with a range of workloads possible (for example, one or more classes). There may be opportunities to increase the teaching load after subsequent intakes.

Requirements:

  • Teaching qualification and Bachelor’s degree or higher in specified subjects from accredited tertiary institution (essential)
  • Knowledge of a range of software applications relevant to academic studies, including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, Teleconferencing and Cloud-based services (essential)
  • Knowledge of management information systems
  • Ability to instruct learners in ways to identify problems and devise technological solutions
  • Intercultural competence  
  • Ability to work in a team both remotely and face-to-face
  • Familiarity with online education services including Moodle and Zoom (preferred)
