Role
The Manager, Quality Assurance and Compliance is responsible for managing projects and business activities that support adherence to the requirements set by Higher Education regulators and other relevant professional accrediting bodies. This is a critical role across Kaplan Business School and Kaplan International Pathways colleges requiring the ability to influence stakeholders at all business levels and drive a culture that understands and effectively manages regulatory and business requirements. This includes managing the achievement and maintenance of comprehensive academic governance practices including course development, accreditation, and reviews; managing the review and implementation of School policies and procedures across academic and student administrative functions; and advising staff on applying relevant standards and regulations to business practices and individual cases.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for understanding and implementing Kaplan Australia’s frameworks and the aligned processes within each of the schools to measure, monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant requirements of regulatory and education quality agencies, in particular, TEQSA, and other legislative requirements and standards, such as the ESOS Act and the National Code 2018. This role will also take responsibility for implementing broader compliance initiatives within the schools including course and subject reviews, and operational procedures and processes.
- Project managing submissions to approving bodies including the completion of the school’s course review and renewal of accreditation applications and new course accreditation applications.
- Monitoring business practices and ensuring risks to quality and/or compliance are flagged, solutions for corrective actions and improvements are implemented within the schools.
- Ensuring the Schools maintain appropriate systems and procedures for recording evidence of practice to satisfy registration and accreditation requirements, including leading process development working groups, developing and maintaining process documentation and conducting regular staff training.
- Communicating decisions made by the Academic Board and its standing committees, such as course and subject changes and policy updates, to wider School staff, and maintaining the accuracy and storage of related documentation. Actively participating as a member of various committees and in line with their terms of reference, including secretariat responsibilities if required.
- Managing CRICOS Provider registration requirements for the Schools including capacity and location submissions.
- Act as key liaison between the Schools and the Quality, Regulations and Standards team, and as a contact for pathways college partner universities.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in related discipline such as business, management, or education (essential)
- Previous experience working in the International Education sector, with an understanding of the ESOS Act and the National Code (essential)
- Experience with higher education accreditation standards and regulation
- Ability to interact and influence at various levels within a complex organisation and to work collaboratively across functions, levels, and departments toward shared objectives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- Previous experience working with the requirements of higher education regulatory agencies and quality assurance programs/processes (desirable)
- Experience and/or qualifications in project management tools and methodologies (desirable)
- Demonstrated professional writing experience, for example with submissions, tenders, secretarial minutes or policy writing (desirable)
