We’re undergoing a period of exciting expansion at Kaplan Business School and as such we’re recruiting for an inaugural Deputy Dean to ensure we preserve the quality of our teaching, the currency of our courses and the strength of our student experience for which we’re recognised throughout Australia and the world.

The Deputy Dean will report to the Academic Dean and will serve as a passionate exemplar of student-centred decision making, particularly in the context of international education.  With a process-oriented mindset and a love of pedagogical experimentation, the Deputy Dean will thrive in an organisation that prioritises employability as a pivotal graduate outcome via its integration throughout the entirety of the curriculum and in all assessments.

Our ideal candidate doesn’t require experience in a similar position but at a minimum has accumulated substantial credibility as an adviser to academic leaders on the recruitment, development, scholarship, engagement and retention of faculty in higher education.

Primary responsibilities

·         Manage the implementation of strategic academic projects

·         Monitor compliance across the full spectrum of regulatory obligations

·         Identify anticipatory interventions that pre-empt issues in cohort-based metrics

·         Oversee the processes associated with the scheduling of teaching staff

·         Perform senior academic administration and coordinate faculty-related programs                                                                     

Main requirements 

·         Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (or advancing toward completion)

·         Contemporary awareness of industry expectations

·         Expansive knowledge of quality assurance practices and risk mitigation strategies

·         Appreciation for the needs of international students and their factors of success

·         Impeccable attention to detail with an ability to cultivate this skill in others
