Role

The University of Newcastle College of International Education (CIE) is seeking a new Student Experience Officer.

The Student Experience Officer is responsible for delivering excellent service across all aspects of our student’s welfare and studies. This includes being the first point of contact for all CIE students, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders, comprehensive management of Under 18’s, providing holistic study support and assistance and ultimately, successful facilitating the transition of our students to the University of Newcastle.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first tier of support for all student and academic staff inquiries at the College 
  • Provide accurate advice to students of the College on matters related to their College and University studies in areas such as course selection, timetabling, enrolment, accommodation options and employment opportunities 
  • One of the first points of contact for staff and student IT issues, and direct to relevant areas for further technical assistance 
  • Represent the College at the NU Space welcome desk during busy periods such as Orientation Week   
  • Be responsible for managing supplies/consumables and general College housekeeping 
  • Targeted and effective student communication via multiple channels (social media, newsletters, email) 
  • Assist students with academic/non-academic needs and help with a range of support services 
  • Assist students to schedule appointment with Student Experience team members for complex inquiries 
  • Respond to general Student Experience online enquiries and redirecting to College staff for complex inquiries 

 

 Requirements

  • Up-to-date working knowledge of key legislation, policies and procedures relevant to international students (essential)
  • Knowledge of ESOS Code of Practice (essential)
  • Positive and supportive communication style with experience across a variety of key stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, control, coordinate and manage activities with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • A self-starter with a professional image who has accuracy and attention to details
  • Previous experience of the Australian Education system or international education sector (desirable)
