Role 

A rare opportunity has emerged at Kaplan Business School for the appointment of a new Academic Director for our Strategy, Operations and Health discipline which, apart from the fields of education noted in its nomenclature, also includes subjects, specialisations and courses in marketing, tourism, entrepreneurship and project management.

The Academic Director is one of four at Kaplan Business School, all of whom report to the Academic Dean, and is supported by two Academic Heads as they work to preserve our global reputation for student centricity, teaching quality, pedagogical innovation and employability, particularly in the context of international education. 

Our ideal candidate is an academic leader with a people-oriented mindset.  They understand the cultivation of a supportive and nurturing learning environment for students is contingent upon a supportive and nurturing workplace for faculty.  They therefore draw on their formidable level of emotional intelligence to lead with compassion and empathy, to communicate with tact and consideration, to build relationships based on trust and understanding, and to prioritise staff engagement as an organisational imperative.

Primary responsibilities 

• Recruit, coach, motivate and engage a diverse faculty across five campuses
• Lead the development and quality assurance of the discipline’s subjects
• Monitor and proactively address metrics of success such as progression
• Perform academic administration and related hands-on duties
• Implement prompt interventions to protect student welfare and satisfaction 

Main requirements 

• Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (or advancing toward completion)
• Track record of successful employee engagement strategies in higher education
• Appreciation for the needs of international students and their factors of success
• Contemporary and extensive awareness of industry expectations
• Impeccable (and demonstrable) attention to detail
