Role:

We are delighted to offer a casual position for an experienced lecturer to teach statistics. This role involves educating students at undergraduate and postgraduate courses delivered at the University of Adelaide College, Melbourne Campus and preparing them for advanced concepts in these fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Create impactful and engaging lesson plans, lectures, tutorials, practicals and workshops
  • Assess student performance through diverse methods, including assignments, projects, and exams
  • Mentor and guide students undertaking advanced studies or research in these areas
  • Collaborate with senior Academic members to organise industry-relevant workshops, seminars, and guest lectures
  • Consult students – being available to students for consultation out of class, especially for students considered to be at risk
  • Contribute to the College’s strategic planning and enhancement efforts
  • Be a productive member of the UoAC team by displaying the Company values through your day-to-day role

Requirements:

  • Doctoral qualification or a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline (essential)
  • ⁠Extensive teaching experience (essential)
  • Proven knowledge of Statistics I and II with classroom-based practice (essential)
  • Strong knowledge and applicability of R, R studio and R essentials (essential) 
  • Knowledge of probability distribution, sample estimation, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, ANCOVA and inference for regression
  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and graphs, transformations, probability calculations, Q-Q plots
  • Knowledge of Data Wrangling, visualization in R, cluster analysis, text mining and data-driven decision
  • Additional knowledge in SPSS, AMOS and Stata (desirable)
  • ⁠Documented success in delivering and executing educational programs
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and pedagogical skills
  • Proven ability to inspire and engage students at various learning levels
  • Strong planning, organizational, and academic abilities
  • Dedication to continuous learning and staying current with industry and academic trends
