Role

Lead the academic operations of the Kaplan-operated CBD-campus pathway college for international students progressing to the University of Adelaide.

Ensure College students experience educational outcomes of the highest quality and the optimum preparation for their continued study at the University of Adelaide.

Maintain strong relationships with a broad stakeholder group within the University.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the College’s teaching team to achieve performance objectives, which include, but are not limited to, student retention, student engagement, lecturer engagement, and student progression and success
  • Lead the academic team in a manner that builds collegiality, a healthy and resilient workplace, and commitment to student wellbeing
  • Closely monitor student academic performance and intervene with necessary support measures when required
  • Lead and coach academic staff so that they reach levels of excellence in relation to teaching practice, academic integrity, content development, authentic assessment and scholarship
  • Lead academic staff recruitment activities and ensure compliance with college and/or University Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensure that the workload is compliant with policy, and staff qualification adhere to AQF and HESF
  • Contribute to the management of the timetabling of all classes with the timetabling team to ensure manageable study programs for students, alignment with College or University policies and to ensure scheduling that facilitates timely completion of teaching, examinations and collation and publication of student results
  • Oversee study plans for students to ensure all students are compliant with program rules and complete in a timely manner
  • Ensure a high level of academic quality and compliance with the Higher Education, Foundation and ELICOS Standards for relevant programs at the levels of design, planning, delivery and assessment

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role with extensive academic management exposure within the international student environment (essential)
  • Experience in people and operational leadership (essential)
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (essential)
  • Experience in building relationships with a partner university
  • Hands-on management style
  • PhD qualified (desirable)
