Role
The Project Manager works within Kaplan Australia’s Information Technology and will lead and oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of multiple projects within Kaplan. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting or exceeding quality standards and outcomes.
The Project Manager will be responsible for aligning project goals with the strategic objectives of the organisation, managing project teams, stakeholders, vendors, and internal resources, ensuring effective transparent communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. This role entails proactive risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making to drive project success and deliver valuable outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation's mission and goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project and change plans, timelines, and budgets
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
- Execute projects to the approved plans, tracking progress and making necessary approved adjustments
- Identify & manage risks and issues, developing mitigation plans and strategies
- Develop clear and effective communication plans to keep stakeholders informed
- Implement quality controls to ensure that project deliverables meet agreed standards
- Manage project budgets, demand management, and track expenditures
- Develop and manage project budgets, monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities to reduce costs
- Monitor project scope and prevent scope creep
- Evaluate change requests and assess impact to project timelines, benefits, and costs
- Maintain accurate documentation, including project plans, status reports, documentation of decisions and actions taken, and all required documentation artifacts
- Generate and distribute regular project reports to management and stakeholders
- Collaborate with project teams and all departments to ensure a coordinated approach
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging methodologies
- Build, lead, and motivate team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support
- Ensure projects adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies
- Adherence to all Kaplan Policies and Procedures including Workplace Health & Safety legislation requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of project /delivery management experience with proven ability to lead customer-focused business & technical projects to ensure objectives, goals, and critical business commitments (essential)
- Experience working on IT, digital development, information security, business and learning application SaaS implementations (essential)
- Project management framework experience such as Prince 2, PMBOK or Agile (essential)
- Experience in expenditure planning, budget maintenance including reallocation of cost, tracking and monitoring and budget reports
- Experience working with Project Management Tools
- An understanding of IT Policy, Compliance, Cyber Security, Digital impact assessment and Risk Management practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong relationship and change management experience
- Ability to successfully manage concurrent projects and ability to prioritise workload
- Highly collaborative and outcomes focused
- Certifications/relevant industry qualifications or relevant project or program management qualifications (desirable)
