Role
As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of Compliance and Governance will be responsible for ensuring Kaplan Professional maintains full compliance with all relevant regulatory and governance obligations across higher education, vocational education, and financial adviser training. This strategic role is critical to embedding best practice compliance frameworks at an operational level, mitigating risk, and supporting continuous improvement. Working cross-functionally, the role requires strong stakeholder engagement, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead a culture of accountability and excellence in regulatory practice.
Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing compliance with TEQSA, ASQA, and other education regulators.
- Lead reaccreditation and approval processes for higher education courses.
- Oversee regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Maintain and enhance governance structures aligned with accreditation and compliance obligations.
- Identify compliance risks, implement mitigation strategies, and oversee corrective actions.
- Lead the implementation of compliance frameworks, internal controls, and monitoring processes.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on governance risks and regulatory changes.
- Develop and deliver compliance reports and insights for executive leadership and governance bodies.
- Mentor and lead compliance and governance teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across business units to build and maintain a strong, proactive compliance culture.
Requirements
- A degree in education, law, governance, or risk management. (essential)
- At least 5 years of experience in compliance, governance, or regulatory roles within the education sector. (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of Australian higher education (TEQSA) or vocational education (ASQA) regulations. (essential)
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them in practical, operational settings.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across all levels of an organisation.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail, especially in reporting and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and driving process improvements.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to communicate with diverse internal and external audiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
- Experience with online education delivery and understanding of education regulations in Southeast Asia. (desirable)
