We are seeking a skilled HR Business Partner with strong relationship-building capabilities, deep expertise in employment relations, and proven experience managing restructures and complex performance matters independently. This is a permanent full-time role based in Melbourne, providing high-impact support to Kaplan Professional and our Pathways colleges, including the University of Adelaide College (UoAC), Murdoch College, and the University of Newcastle College of International Education (UNCIE). It’s a diverse and influential position, ideal for an experienced HR professional looking to make a meaningful difference across a broad portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Head of HR and Safety based in Sydney and be part of an inclusive and supportive HR team of ten.
- Partner with senior leaders to shape and deliver a people strategy that supports business objectives and drives cultural and operational excellence.
- Provide expert advice and coaching on employee relations matters, including performance management, grievances, disciplinary issues, and organisational change processes.
- Lead and deliver HR projects such as performance & remuneration reviews, workforce restructures, and regulatory reporting (e.g., WGEA) and negotiation of enterprise agreements.
- Act as a change agent and employee experience champion, identifying opportunities to enhance engagement, leadership capability, and continuous improvement.
- Utilise data and analytics to generate insights, prepare HR dashboards, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.
- Build and sustain strong relationships across all levels of the business, facilitating open communication and a collaborative, inclusive culture.
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a HR Business Partner or Employee Relations role. (essential)
- Demonstrated experience interpreting industrial instruments. (essential)
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law (federal and state).(essential)
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Law, or Employee Relations. (essential)
- Proven expertise in complex case management and leadership coaching.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain discretion with sensitive matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HRIS platforms (Workday desirable).
- Experience in the education industry or similarly regulated environment. (desirable)
- Experience negotiating enterprise agreements. (desirable)
