Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and student-focused Careers Advisor to join our Sydney campus team on a fixed-term parental leave contract.
This part-time position (0.6 - 0.8 FTE) plays a key role in supporting student employability, professional identity, and career confidence. You will provide personalised career consultations, coordinate career development events, and build relationships with employers and industry partners to create work experience and job opportunities for students.
You’ll work closely with the National Careers Manager and other campus staff to deliver high-quality services aligned with national employability strategy - while also enjoying flexibility, autonomy, and a genuinely student-first culture.
Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one career consultations, both online and face-to-face, tailored to diverse student needs
- Coach students on job readiness, personal branding, and career confidence aligned with the KBS Employability Framework
- Promote and guide students through employment opportunities, internship pathways, and career enrichment programs
- Refer students into academic internship subjects in collaboration with the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team
- Plan, promote and deliver careers workshops, events, and guest speaker panels
- Build and maintain campus-based relationships with employers, host companies, and community organisations
- Track and report on student consultations, event attendance, internship placements, and job outcomes using approved systems
- Respond to student feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of careers services
- Collaborate with Student Experience staff and national Careers Central colleagues to ensure consistent, high-impact service delivery
Requirements
- Experience in a client-facing or stakeholder engagement role (e.g. careers, recruitment, student services, business development) (essential)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including comfort facilitating events or presenting to groups
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with independence, initiative, and attention to detail
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and able to quickly adapt to new systems and processes
- Ability to work effectively with international students and culturally diverse cohorts
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Tertiary qualifications in Careers Education, Counselling, Business, HR, or related field (desirable)
- Experience using a CRM, student management system, or digital careers tools (desirable)
