Kaplan International New Zealand is now inviting applications for the position of English Language Teacher. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive academic team dedicated to delivering a high-quality English language education to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently plan and deliver high quality English language lessons online and/or face to face in accordance with class schedules and weekly teaching materials
- Conduct a range of courses including but not limited to General English, English for Academic Purposes and Exam preparation courses such as IELTS
- Ensure that marking is completed in the allocated timeframe and recorded in the agreed LMS to allow for moderation
- Provide detailed feedback to students within the given timeframe
- Invigilate in-class tests and or examinations (as applicable)
- Foster positive and productive student/teacher relationships
- Maintain consistent SELTS (Student Engagement in Learning and Teaching Survey) results for quality teaching - measurement of quality of teaching is based on questions in the SELTS and teaching observations
- Conduct regular tutorials/office-hours with students to increase student performance and monitor students’ wellbeing, health and safety
- Undertake under 18 pastoral care duties according to The Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 (including Amendments 2019)
Requirements:
- CELTA (or equivalent) and bachelor’s degree or higher from accredited tertiary institution (essential)
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience (essential)
- Ability to relate to students and build meaningful connections to optimise their learning experience
- Experience teaching online classes delivery as well as knowledge of digital teaching tools and methods
- Experience in curriculum design
- Experience in teaching a range of language student levels, from elementary to advanced, and various general and specialist courses
- Strong organisational, time management and communication skills
- Intercultural competence and experience in teaching multicultural cohorts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work proactively individually and collaboratively as part of a close-knit team
- Ability to set targets, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Familiarity with LMS, Moodle
- Familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an education context
