- Opportunities are available across the English Language Bridging program delivered at the Callaghan campus, and the Foundation Studies and Degree Transfer programs delivered at the Newcastle City Campus.
Role
We are looking for casual English Language Teachers to deliver high quality, English language lessons. The role involves supporting students in the development of essential academic language skills to prepare them for future study. English Language Teachers are expected to uphold all regulatory requirements, including the ELICOS Standards, the ESOS framework, and the National Code. This position is based at our Newcastle campus.
- Deliver high-quality, face-to-face English language lessons aligned to program outcomes and CIE teaching standards.
- Implement evidence-informed pedagogical approaches that support diverse international student cohorts.
- Provide structured learning experiences that foster student engagement, autonomy, and academic readiness.
- Deliver and mark assessments in line with program guidelines and assessment criteria.
- Participate in assessment moderation processes to support consistency and fairness.
- Uphold academic integrity principles and report concerns in accordance with policy.
- Provide appropriate academic and pastoral support to students, referring to specialist services where required.
- Complete administrative tasks, including lesson planning, reporting, and documentation, in a timely manner.
- Follow all requirements under the ELICOS Standards, ESOS Act, and relevant policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum delivery, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Contribute to a culture of collegiality, quality, and student-centred learning.
Requirements
- Qualifications in TESOL consistent with the ELICOS Standards.
- Strong understanding of English language teaching methodologies.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to apply policy with consistency and fairness.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience teaching international students in ELICOS or pathway environments.
- Experience contributing to professional learning or curriculum development.
