Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join our HR & Safety team in Sydney.
In this role, you will provide generalist HR advice and operational support, with a primary focus on the academic and teaching workforce across Kaplan Business School (KBS) and Kaplan ANZ Pathways Colleges. You will play a key role in supporting academic workforce processes, interpreting enterprise agreements and awards, and ensuring smooth delivery of HR services aligned to business needs.
Working closely with Senior HR Business Partners and key stakeholders, you will help deliver practical HR solutions, support employee relations matters, and contribute to workforce planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide HR support across academic workforce processes, including contracts, variations, and workload allocation
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreements, awards, and policies in an academic environment
- Act as a first point of contact for HR queries, escalating complex or high-risk matters as required
- Liaise with Payroll to ensure accurate translation of academic workloads into pay outcomes
- Support study period activities and cyclical academic processes
- Assist with employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary matters, and restructures
- Deliver HR reporting and insights, supporting data-driven decision making
- Contribute to HR projects, recruitment activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in HR, Employment Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience) (essential)
- Experience working in the Australian tertiary or higher education sector (essential)
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and awards
- Ability to interpret and apply policies in a practical, business-focused way
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- High attention to detail and analytical capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (experience with Workday, Scout or Power BI is desirable)
