Role
We are looking for an Academic (Financial Services) to help develop engaging learning content and assessments, across applied finance, accounting and economics subjects within higher education, nested course offerings and other Kaplan Professional courses.
This role is ideally suited to a professional with strong discipline expertise and demonstrated experience developing engaging online learning content that aligns with industry standards and learner needs. Working autonomously within a collaborative environment, you will partner with instructional designers, multimedia specialists, external writers, and industry subject matter experts to develop, refine, and enhance learning materials across postgraduate and professional education programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality financial services learning content across across applied Finance, accounting and economics disciplines, ensuring relevance, accuracy and alignment with industry standards and academic governance requirements.
- Create subject outlines, briefs, learning outcomes and assessment materials, ensuring alignment with curriculum and subject requirements at the appropriate AQF level.
- Research, write and adapt financial services curriculum for digital learning environments.
- Undertake content review, assessment validation and continuous improvement activities, incorporating feedback from students, assessors, industry experts, benchmarking and governance processes.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and multimedia producers to create engaging digital learning experiences, including multimedia learning assets, scripts, interviews, video content, and participate in production activities with internal and/or external partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, academic and industry requirements, including curriculum mapping, assessment validation, quality assurance, and adherence to TEQSA/ASQA and professional standards.
- Engage with academic staff and industry experts to maintain contemporary subject relevance and represent Kaplan in relevant forums and committees.
- Support student engagement and learning outcomes by monitoring discussion forums, responding to technical content queries, and contributing to a positive, safe and collaborative workplace culture.
Requirements
- Postgraduate qualifications in Applied Finance, Economics, Commerce, or other related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years’ financial services industry experience, with a solid understanding of regulatory and professional standards.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in education content development, including learning design, subject development, assessment writing
- Excellent research, writing, editing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into accessible, engaging content for diverse learners.
- Experience working with online learning platforms and digital content development. Strong governance and compliance capability, including curriculum mapping, academic documentation, and adherence to external regulatory frameworks (TEQSA/ASQA).
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with industry experts, academics, students and internal teams.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, with a track record of meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects, and working both independently and collaboratively.
