  • A sector-leading institute with prized status as a self-accrediting authority
  • Influence the continuous improvement of work-integrated learning

Role

At Kaplan Business School, we’re recruiting for an Academic Head for our Enterprise Practice & Accounting discipline which, beyond accounting-related courses, also includes subjects on finance, law, governance, foundation studies and work-integrated learning.

Reporting to the discipline’s Academic Director, you’ll be working alongside two fellow Academic Heads whose Accounting-specific expertise would be complemented by your established credentials in work-integrated learning and credit-bearing internships in a business context.

This role is primarily operational and administrative, with national responsibility for recruiting industry-active faculty, scheduling classes, mentoring subject coordinators, reviewing curriculum, maintaining scholarship compliance and monitoring student success metrics to inform timely interventions. While the role has no direct reports, it exercises leadership through influence across a multi-campus academic team.

Our ideal candidate is an emerging academic leader with a demonstrated commitment to student-centred learning, particularly in international education. The successful candidate will value high-quality teaching, strong student support, graduate employability and be motivated to contribute to a dynamic Institute of Higher Education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership and on-campus support for students and staff
  • Coordinate and enhance work-integrated learning subjects (i.e., credit-bearing internships)
  • Maintain the relevance and currency of the discipline’s curriculum
  • Coach and engage a faculty that exceeds 100 educators across six campuses
  • Prioritise student-centredness across all facets of teaching and learning
  • Proactively collaborate on interdisciplinary and cross-functional initiatives
  • Exceed the requirements of regulatory and professional industry accreditations

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a field related to work-integrated learning, career development, employability (or similar) in a business context
  • Active membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., WIL Australia, NAGCAS, NAFEA, WACE etc.)
  • Evidence of current industry engagement with employers, business associations, chambers of commerce and/or community groups
  • Experience as a teacher and subject coordinator in a higher education context
  • Five years’ recent professional experience as a practitioner in a related sector
